"I had the chords and melody for this song in my head in the summer of 2005. A year lanter, I sent a CD-R demo of it to my brother John, who was living in Boston. He recorded the drum tracks for me and then I sat on it until 2020. I found myself at home for months on end without any work and decided to finish this song and several others that my little brother drummed on. He tragically took his life in 2013 and I am grateful to have made music and memories with him during his short 28 years on earth.
In the before-times, a song about grocery shopping would have been mundane. Then a global pandemic triggered panic buying, which left shelves bare and shoppers standing in long lines to buy whatever was left at the stores. My girlfriend moved in during this chaotic time and we have gone through this together. I am grateful for her, and this song is written to her."
